Chakras are energy centres in the body, rooted in ancient Indian spiritual traditions, particularly within Hinduism and yoga. The concept describes a system of seven main energy points aligned along the spine, each associated with specific physical, emotional, and spiritual functions. The idea is that energy (often called prana) flows through these chakras. When they’re "open" or balanced, you’re in harmony—physically, mentally, and spiritually. Blockages or imbalances, though, can manifest as emotional distress or physical ailments. Practices like meditation, yoga, breathwork, and even sound therapy are used to align or unblock them.
The word "chakra" comes from Sanskrit, meaning "wheel" or "disk," symbolising the spinning energy that flows through these points when balanced.
